Baron de Freycinet's cognac is a testament dedicated to the Freycinet's Brothers, Louis-Claude and Louis-Henri de Saulses de Freycinet. In 1802, the two brothers took part, as French officers, in the Baudin expedition.

The Baudin Expedition was one of the most prolific and adventurous expeditions to Australia in the 19th century. Aimed at chartering the coastline, the Freycinet's Brothers named several areas of Australia. In 1811 the brother's first map of Australia, drawn by Louis-Claude de Freycinet's was published. So inspired were the brothers by the magnificent country and its remarkable diversity they returned in 1817 dedicating their lives to the navy and their scientific endeavours. In 2011, in celebration of the bicentenary of their discoveries Baron de Freycinet's cognac was born.

With Baron de Freycinet's cognac V.S.O.P., Henry de Saulses de Freycinet, as the head of the Freycinet's family wishes to commemorate the legacy of those times and the memory of his great ancestors.
